Mayor & City Council
The City Council is comprised of five members who are elected at large on a non-partisan ballot to serve four-year overlapping terms. City general elections are held on the first Tuesday in November of odd-numbered years. Each year the Council selects one of its members to serve as Mayor.
City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located in the City Hall complex at 4045 Palos Verdes Drive North. Meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend.
City Council meetings represent only a small portion of the total time that Council Members commit to their roles as elected officials. Members also represent the City to state lawmakers, participate on a number of committees, and attend various conferences affecting the community. Council Members serve on a voluntary basis, without financial compensation.
